Acidizing & Chemical Services
The Service
Copper Tip Energy Services operates a one-call acidizing service covering acid supply, transport, pumping, and nitrogen support, eliminating the coordination burden for our clients. Our fleet of acid-compatible fluid pumping units and bulk transport trailers is purpose-built for corrosive service.
Our teams work with preferred chemical suppliers to develop custom acid blends for each application. All fluid units are equipped with real-time data acquisition systems, providing treatment charts, pressure records, and CSV data files on site.
Beyond wellbore work, we support pipeline operators with batch chemical treatment programs, placing a slug of inhibitor, biocide, or scale treatment chemical between pigs and using nitrogen to push it through the line.

Understanding the Service
What is Acidizing & Chemical Services?
Wellbore acidizing involves pumping hydrochloric acid (HCl) or other corrosive fluids into a wellbore or formation to dissolve scale, remove near-wellbore damage, and restore or enhance permeability. Treatments are designed for specific reservoir and wellbore conditions, from simple matrix flushes to engineered stimulation programs.
Copper Tip provides a fully integrated one-call service: acid supply, bulk transport, pumping equipment, nitrogen support, and coiled tubing if required, coordinated by a single team. Our acid-compatible fluid units handle corrosive fluids safely, with full containment and on-site emergency shower capability.
Batch chemical treatment is a pipeline integrity technique where a slug of treatment chemical is placed between pigs and displaced through the line using nitrogen or fluid pressure. This method ensures consistent chemical contact with the pipe wall over the full treatment length. It is used for corrosion inhibition, scale treatment, and biocide applications.
Common Questions
What is wellbore acidizing?
Wellbore acidizing involves pumping hydrochloric acid or other corrosive fluids into a well to dissolve scale, remove formation damage, and restore permeability around the wellbore. It is used to stimulate both production and disposal wells, and can be performed as a bullhead treatment or as a coil-spotted application to target a specific zone.
What is the difference between bullhead and coil-spotted acid?
A bullhead acid treatment pumps acid down the wellbore from surface without depth control. The acid distributes across all open perforations based on pressure and flow. A coil-spotted treatment uses coiled tubing to place the acid at a specific depth or zone, allowing more precise stimulation of a single interval and reducing the risk of damaging other zones.
What is a batch chemical pipeline treatment?
A batch chemical treatment involves placing a measured slug of treatment chemical, such as a corrosion inhibitor, scale inhibitor, or biocide, between two pipeline pigs and then using nitrogen or fluid pressure to displace the slug through the line. As the chemical slug travels, it contacts and coats the pipe wall, delivering an even treatment along the full length of the pipeline.
What acid-compatible equipment does Copper Tip operate?
Copper Tip operates a fleet of stainless steel and acid-compatible fluid pumping units, including high-rate pump down units capable of up to 2.4 m³/min, twin and single fluid pumps, and 30,000L acid bulk transport trailers. All acid operations include on-site emergency shower and eye wash capability.
